Pawel Wyderka is a counselling and psychotherapy practitioner who works with individual adults, families, and children and young people (aged 5–15 years) with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression/low mood, stress, abuse, assertiveness, anger management, bereavement/grief, body image, bullying, chronic illness, problematic eating and other habitual behaviours, exam stress; isolation, life transitions, loneliness, low self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic, perfectionism, phobias, procrastination, relationship concerns, spirituality, trauma and many more issues.

Pawel has particular experience in working with children, adolescents and families, addressing issues such as family conflict, self-harm and trauma. He can offer sessions in Polish for those who feel more comfortable working in this language.

Pawel offers coaching and can support individuals looking to further their development in their personal and professional lives.
 

Pawel's way of working

Pawel's practice is underpinned by a person-centred approach, and he strives to ensure that each client feels heard, valued and empowered. As well as using Person-Centred Therapy in his counselling/psychotherapy sessions, Pawel may incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)  and mindfulness-based techniques into his work where appropriate.

He often uses Psychodynamic Therapy when working with children, young adults and families in order to explore emotional patterns and relationships. Pawel may also make use of Play Therapy when he feels this may be helpful and appropriate for a client.
 

Pawel's background and training

Pawel has experience supporting people in both clinical and therapeutic settings. He has worked with mental health support charities to support both individuals and groups. Pawel has a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI).  Additionally, he holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Children, Young People & Families from Robert Gordon University and a certification from the Online Therapy Institute. Pawel also holds a coaching certificate from the Association for Coaching.

Pawel is a counsellor member of COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland).
