Appointments at First Psychology Inverness

Whether you’re an individual client or seeking support as part of a couple or family, you can refer yourself directly to our counselling, CBT, psychotherapy, coaching or other psychological services and one of our experienced practitioners will usually be able to see you for an initial appointment within 7 days.

Referrals from health professionals and organisations

We welcome referrals from health professionals, organisations and businesses. Please contact us to discuss our services.

Booking an appointment

To book an appointment with any of our psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, cognitive-behaviour therapists or coaches, please contact us. Once you have made a booking, we will send you an email confirming the time of your initial session, as well as details of how to find us and other information about what to expect.

The initial session

The initial session is an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have with your practitioner and to explore your goals for therapy. The initial session lasts between 50 minutes to one hour and is charged at the practitioner’s usual rate. After the initial session, most clients will continue to work with the same practitioner. However, we may suggest an alternative practitioner if we feel they may be better suited to a client’s needs. We are also happy to organise an alternative practitioner if at any time a client feels this is necessary.

Your ‘contract’ with First Psychology Inverness

When you are ready to progress with therapy, your practitioner may ask you to agree a ‘contract’. This sets out the terms and expectations of therapy and usually includes information such as fees, issues of confidentiality and the number of sessions you have initially agreed to. The contract is not legally binding and you are free to end therapy at any time, but we do ask that you give us the required notice. It is also useful for you to attend a final session with your practitioner as therapy can be difficult and so it is preferable to conclude it in the most helpful way possible.

Our cancellations policy

We understand it is sometimes necessary to cancel an appointment, however we do ask that you give us two full working days’ notice so we can offer the appointment to another client. Where this is not possible, the full session fee is payable.
