
Erin Johnston is a counsellor and psychotherapist who works with individual adults and children (aged 5-15 years) with a wide range of concerns including: anxiety, depression/low mood, stress, abuse, assertiveness, bereavement/grief, body image, bullying, chronic illness, complex trauma, life transitions, loneliness, low self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive challenges, panic, phobias, relationship concerns, self-harm and many more issues.
Erin has particular experience in working with individuals who have experienced gender-based violence, narcissistic abusive relationships and sexual violence trauma.
Erin's way of working
Erin is an open and compassionate practitioner who works collaboratively with clients, tailoring her approach to each individual's needs and preferences. She offers both person-centred and integrative approaches to counselling and psychotherapy, incorporating elements of other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and DBT-informed therapy where appropriate. Erin is play-therapy skilled and can utilise games and materials for those who find talk therapy challenging.
Erin's background and experience
Erin has experience in a variety of support roles. She has served as a therapeutic emotional support worker for a sexual violence support charity, providing trauma-informed care. Additionally, she has worked with a drama therapy charity to support deprived children in South Africa and Mexico.
Erin holds a BSc Degree in Psychology from the Open University, as well as a COSCA Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) and a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Children & Young People from Strathclyde University.
Erin is a counsellor member of COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland).
Erin's fee
