Antoinette O'Toole is an experienced psychological therapist who works with individual adults with a wide range of issues and problems including: depression/low mood; anxiety; stress; assertiveness; eating and body image issues; chronic illness; gender/sexual identity; life transitions; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); abuse/neglect; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); relaxation; self-harm; loneliness; and many more issues.

She is particularly experienced in working with trauma, and with alcohol and substance related issues.
 

Antoinette's way of working

Antoinette believes that all human beings can gravitate towards mental and physical wellbeing with the right support. In her counselling / psychological therapy sessions, she works collaboratively and respectfully with each client with the aim of empowering them to bring about change. Antoinette offers Gestalt Therapy, an approach which focuses on the person as an individual and the uniqueness of their experiences in the present moment, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
 

Antoinette's background and training

Antoinette has worked in a number of people facing roles in a range of settings including in the NHS, for charities, and in private practice. 

She has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Contemporary Trauma Practice, a Diploma in Gestalt Therapy (from the Edinburgh Gestalt Institute), an MSc in Health Promotion and Health Education, and she has completed level 3 training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. In addition, Antoinette has a Higher Diploma in Education and a BA Degree in German and Sociology. 

Antoinette is a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
